The Orb Staff
The Archmagus stood in his study, deep in contemplation. His Orb staff was emitting a bright, white intermittent glow illuminating the exposed stone work of the keep. Hanging off the staff was a rats-nest of wires hooked up to a machine.
"10,000 lux, as bright as a summmer day" the Archmagus said softly as he peered into the darkness from his window.
"Are you sure the LDRs aren't faulty, it seems a lot brighter to me!, and it feels a bit too cold for summer, is the kelvin temperature correct ?" squeaked Arktos, his rodent familiar as he scuttled towards a dark corner.
"Why are you always so critical of my work ?", retorted the wizard.
"So, we have summer on a staff.. how is that going to protect us from the Bugbear hoard hunting us ?"
"A few more tweaks to the algorithm, the Rune of Sun and we will light-up the Runiverse! "

Training
Archmagus Lux grimaced as he ducked to avoid the speeding tomato. It crashed upon the stone walls of the keep showering him in pulp. A riotous gang of imps then launched a lethal-looking cucumber at the Archmagus, like a spear it smashed into the woodwork of the stocks with a loud thud missing him by mere inches. "That's against the rules !" Lux bellowed his eyes lit up a malevolent blue. However, his face quickly softened "but carry on" before receiving a direct hit from a ripened tomato.
"Why do you do this? squeaked Arktos his familiar, "why do you groom your beard and wear your royal shoulder cape just to be locked in the stocks and pelted with veg ? people love you ! they don't want to see you in the stocks like a criminal!"
"They also fear me" said Lux wearily, they've seen my power. One day: fear, jealousy and the manipulative powers of the media will turn people against wizards, it's inevitable. All wizards must train to be able to endure and control ourselves in the most humiliating and dire of circumstances!
