Mushbutt Ruin of Glory (#10534)

Owner: 0xa34A…9fBA

The Fungi are an ancient race and renowned as the oldest and truest democracy in the Runiverse. Their natural habitat is an underground network of threads called Mycelium. In order to physically interact with the world, Fungi must become parasites and take over a host body through Syndesmos, which allows them to walk among other beings and engage with the world around them.

Among his people, Mushbutt, was known for his unwavering dedication to democracy and equality. He believed that greatness, heroism, and leadership led to an imbalance of power, causing the values he held dear to be threatened. Mushbutt was gifted with a unique ability, thanks to his fungal nature—his psychedelic powers allowed him to foresee the future.

One day, while meditating on this interconnected network, he experienced several visions revealing the destinies of various children in a nearby Xeno town. These children were fated to grow into great heroes, kings, and leaders, wielding immense power and influence. Mushbutt felt a deep sense of unease as he knew their rise to prominence could compromise the democratic society he cherished.

Fueled by his conviction, Mushbutt decided to eliminate these future heroes and leaders while they were still young and defenseless. He knew that stopping them from ever achieving greatness would preserve the balance he so desperately sought. It was a twisted form of justice, but in his mind, it was necessary.

Mushbutt took over a host body and traveled to the Xeno town, seeking out each child one by one. With every life he ended, he felt both a sense of satisfaction and regret, knowing that he was preventing the potential rise of tyranny while simultaneously snuffing out innocent lives. His actions were ruthless, but he believed they served a greater purpose.

In the end, Mushbutt returned to his secluded life among the Fungi, haunted by the lives he had taken, yet conflicted by the belief that he had acted in the best interests of the greater good. Despite the weight of his actions, Mushbutt was hailed as a hero by his fellow Fungi. They celebrated his unwavering commitment to democracy and equality, honoring him with the prestigious title of "Ruin of Glory," one of the highest honorary accolades within their democratic society.

As Mushbutt continued to meditate within the depths of his Mycelium network, he grappled with profound introspection. He questioned whether his ruthless deeds had truly secured a more balanced and just future or if he had unwittingly sown the seeds of further strife and suffering. Only the unfolding of time would reveal the true consequences of his choices…
