Training

After being sold in the auction, Felix and Rex were sent to an assessment camp to see what their current fighting skills were. He along with five other combatants were given training weapons and told to fight. Felix threw down his sword and shield and declared that he had no intentions of ever fighting in an arena for people’s amusement. Two of the fighters wasted no time pummeling him until he was unconscious. If it wasn't for Rex who shielded him while he was down his injuries would have been much worse.

While in recovery Felix quickly realized that not all of these fighters were here against their will. Many wanted to hear the roar of the arena crowd while others were there for money, fame or glory. There were even those who just seemed to have a penchant for violence. Felix had no desire of becoming an arena fighter but he also knew that if he did not fight he would die before he had the chance to somehow get back to the Delta Knights and get revenge on the senior knight who betrayed him.

Once Felix recovered he was again put in the training ring with five other combatants this time without Rex who was still recovering. While preparing to fight he saw the two original men who attacked him and Rex during the first fight. Both men smirked and began mocking the fact that Rex wasn’t here to protect him this time. Felix began gripping his sword and shield tighter, the anger growing inside of him but keeping his outward demeanor the same.

When the drum sounded to fight Felix once again threw down his sword and began to loosen the straps of his shield from his arm. The two men ran at him laughing and waving their weapons. Once the first man got within range instead of dropping his shield to the ground he tossed it at him hitting him in the throat. The man buckled to the ground trying to catch his breath. The second man, stunned at what he just saw, stopped to look at his ally and by the time he looked back at Felix he had already picked up his sword and struck his head with the end of his swords hilt knocking him out.

The first man got back to his feet and tried to strike Felix with his hammer but his attack was slow and he easily dodged it and struck him on the head as well knocking him down. He then picked up his shield and began bashing the man’s face until he was unconscious. After seeing what Felix did the other three combatants tried to attack him together but he quickly defeated them, knocking out one and unarming the other two.

After the fight Felix went to see Rex in the animal recovery room to let him know that he got revenge on the two men who injured him. Rex lifted his head in acknowledgement. Although the two of them could not communicate this was the beginning of their bond and for the next three months their bond would continue to grow even stronger as they fought various types of opponents in the assessment camp. Their progress was noticed by the patron who bought them in the auction and it was decided it was time to promote them to the arena.
