The Lore of Archmagus Silas of El Dorado

Silas wasn’t particularly adept at any school of magic. He was quite proud of his ability to make plants grow, but his family’s non-magical nursery did equally well just with fertilizer and water. Nonetheless, he titled himself an Archmagus and made the rose his totem of power.

Silas was a hermit of the highest order. He rarely left his family’s nursery, and called upon couriers to fetch him goods from the market. Since he lived on his family’s estate outside El Dorado, he never needed to seek employment. To make a little spending money, he would pen little doodles and have a courier sell them at the city center.

Lately he had found himself enamored of the local constable Brynya who was very fond of plants and often visited the nursery.

One day Silas decided to create a special picture just for her, and wanted to use an ink pigment that was usually very difficult to find. He had a cousin in a distant land called High Steps that he knew had this pigment, so he hired a courier pigeon to request some ink. His cousin pigeoned him back that the pigment was on its way via a local courier named Larissa (#9620).

One fateful day, while awaiting the courier, Brynya came to the nursery and began browsing the ferns. Silas mustered up all his courage and went into the nursery to offer her a bright red rose. That was when he saw the scoundrel Cairon of Alfheim (#3216).
