Shaman Lumos of the Hollow (#8534)

Owner: 0x7BB5…3E05

Picking up his walking stick with one hand he reached for a stone the size of a fist with his other. Engraved in the middle of the stone was the rune of Pluto. Holding them both together for a moment he closed his eyes. Softly he began to sing while still holding the stone but moving the magic stick to his right side. Gently tapping it on the floor ten times a smoky haze developed in the room. Several voices started whispering into the air. It was difficult to tell how many voices or if they were male or female.

“Not surprising here we are again. I completely agree. Lumos, you need to remember to stay in control. It does you no good to explode. Yes, he needs to remain focused and now must expect the sisters to have some kind of retaliation. I think he went too far with his insults. Sure, but you all have to admit that head sister Buvessa gets on everyone's nerves. She is such a brat. I concur, but we all know that Lumos insulted her in front of the entire order. I don’t know whether to be mad or applaud him. What does everyone think they are planning? In my opinion I am sure it is something devious? Yes, and in my experience with Buvessa is that she likes fire. Good point, she is always zapping something. My guess is they will try to burn the crops. They will probably try to do something to Lumos first or maybe last. I agree, he needs to protect the farms and himself. Hmmm which spells do we recommend he uses? I think the bubble spell will work just fine for the crops? Oh, and the forgetful spell would be good too? We will be able to help with that spell. Yes, it will be fun to watch them bounce off the invisible wall and then forget what they are doing. This will be fun. The decision is settled then.”

When the room became silent Lumos opened his eyes and reached for a marble bowl sitting across on the table. Then he walked over to the cupboard and gathered some supplies and came back.

Into the bowl went several kinds of dried leaves, some purple powder, and some sand that glittered like gold. The leaves crushed into tiny bits as he stirred while chanting. The entire mixture turned dark brown like the color of rich soil. Looking down at the bowl a slight smile came across his face. He got up and walked over to a shelf and then sat back down at the table with a sack. After pouring the contents of the bowl into the sack he tapped it with his stick and magically it was tied shut.

Looking over at his bed he gave a high pitched whistle. A brown rat came out from under the bed and sat up like a dog.

“Nix, I am going to need your help with these spells.” The rat nodded and Lumos threw him a treat. Standing up he grabbed his walking stick and went over to put on his dark green cloak. Out into the darkness he went with the rat following close behind.

“Faster feet,” thought Nix as he ran to keep up. “I can fight those witches even though tonight will end in pain, destruction, or even death. The wind blew through his brown fur as the brown rat raced to keep up with his owner Shaman Lumos. They were on their way to place two extremely difficult spells to protect the crops of the brown hat farmers from the Order of the Dark Sisters. If and when the sisters showed up there would be a fight. There would be blood…lots of it. The hairs on his body were electrified from the anxiety and from the magic in the air. Nix wasn’t like most rats. He had powers from the cosmos and he was able to channel magic from the rune of Pluto. “Remember to put some dirt on your pink ears and tail when you get to the fields,” he said quietly. “I wish I was a shapeshifter like my brothers and sisters. No, I got creepy spirits talking to me all the time.”

“We heard that!” a voice said into his ear.

“Yeah well I got more to say!” replied the familiar.

“Focus Nix, Shaman Lumos is going to need all your energy. We can only give some assistance from the heavens.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah! I got this. You can count on me. Now all of you spirits please be quiet, I need to think.”

Not only did the rat need to make plans for the fight he needed to figure out how to take care of himself. The downside of helping his owner with these spells is it drains his energy. The last time he was needed to defend against the Order of the Dark Sisters Nix had to sleep for days.

They got to the first field and off in the distance they could see purple hats with blue hair in a circle around the farm house. It was engulfed by flames. “We are too late,” yelled Shaman Lumos. “It’s not the crops they are burning its peoples homes.” The rat didn’t stop to pay any attention to his owner. The nose on the rat twitched as it picked up the scent for the evil one, the head of the Order of Sisters, Buvessa. Nix raced forward.
